A Year in Review - 2013

My Mia's Art has turned two this week! Another whirlwind year of art and writing, photography and of course my favourite art subjects, my girls! 110 posts. 136 WordPress Followers. 309 Facebook Followers. 62 (mostly art) pages that follow my page. My Mia's Art is very, very small…manageable and fun….perfect in my eyes, hopefully in your eyes too!

Most importantly, since we are talking stats…in the last two years, I have painted 35 paintings! Gotta be happy with that, especially when my two favourite sizes are 30x40 inches ( 76 x 102 cm) and 24 x 30 inches (61 x 76cm)…decent sizes!

and one "highly Commended' at the West Australian Society of Arts annual show.Mia laing - mymiasart.com Gosh, I'm exhausted just listing all these paintings!! I just want to thank everyone for your support of my page. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read my posts and whether you have been here since day one, or are just new, I want to send a HUGE thank you! To my few regular commentors, I so, so appreciate the time you have taken to tap the keyboard. Your kind, generous words, showing such support to this journey I have found myself on, are very important to me. It can be a lonely old business at times, this art rap. Many, many hours are spent locked in my studio, with just my fur children as company, paintbrush in hand, often with doubt sitting on my shoulder, whispering in my ear. Getting cheers from the sidelines gives me a big incentive to keep going when times get tough… boring... hectic…and scary. 2014 is already shaping into a busy art year, with paperwork and dates already organised for various shows. My head is filled with ideas and goals. Goals that are needing me to step out of my comfort zone…totally terrifying!! So thanks millions you lot! Its time to tidy up the studio and have a little break with the family. Wishing you all a happy, warm, relaxed Christmas. See you on the downward slide to 2014…and possibly a new 365 photo project…possibly. Watch this space! Mia x
